My name is Paul Hamilton. At the moment, I am a Roman Catholic seminarian studying for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. I am a college seminarian, meaning that I am studying philosophy in preparation for theology. This year, I was sent to Washington DC in order to get my Masters degree rather than the BA, as most seminarians do. I study at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, and I live at a house of formation called Theological College (TC). I am a “Basselin,” meaning that I have received the Basselin scholarship. The Basselin scholarship was established by Theodore Basselin, who was a Catholic who was sick of hearing bad homilists every week. He set up a scholarship program which gives full tuition to qualified seminarians to study philosophy and take extra public speaking classes.
While most of my waking hours revolve around seminary duties and school, I am sometimes given permission to believe that I have interests outside of seminary and school. My other interests include reading, singing, chess, Homestar Runner, and many sports. I enjoy soccer, hockey, tennis, baseball, running, and ping pong.
On this blog, I will write whatever about whatever comes to mind. Many topics will revolve around philosophy or theology, but I won’t restrict myself to either. I might even add a Hamiltonian homily every once and a while.
EDIT: By the way, my blog is named after St. John of the Cross’ classic work with the same name.
